Hazardous Building Materials (Asbestos, Lead Paint etc.)
In the past, it was just asbestos that needed to be identified. As regulations around the world changed, so did the needs of a hazardous building material survey. Now, in addition to asbestos, building materials like lead based paints, PCBs, mercury, silica, etc., all may need to be identified.
The hazardous building material survey team of Sterling IAQ are trained and certified under the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) program. Additionally, are certified AHERA Building Inspectors do maintain their certification through annual refresher training.
SERVICES
In the WorksafeBC OH&S Regulation, section 20.112 requires hazardous materials surveys to be completed on buildings constructed prior to 1990 if there is demolition or renovation planned. These hazardous materials can include asbestos, lead, PCB’s, mercury and ozone depleting substances. Sterling IAQ Consultants Ltd. provide clients with comprehensive building surveys and risk assessments to identify and prioritize hazardous building materials. All building survey’s are conducted by an Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) building inspector to ensure your survey is complete and comprehensive.
